In May I was able to stop briefly at Patrick Air Force Base, located in Cocoa Beach, Florida, on my way to cover a rocket launch by the 45th Space Wing. Patrick AFB doesn’t have too much glitz and glamour in the way of aircraft, but does offer excellent spotting locations. Two beaches are across the street from the main runway on the approach line. If only they had a fighter or bomber wing there! The primary role of Patrick AFB is to provide support to Cape Canaveral Air Station.
